Nora Gilbert, a 20 year old girl; was born with a facial defect. A slight limp and scarring about her lip after her mother made her have surgery, but it was still there. Her mother made sure to remind her how ugly she was every day. She grew up feeling ugly, sad, depressed and not loved by either of her parents; she was insecure and shy. The awful mother hide her at times, she would lock her up in her room for days even. All this time her father would be out of town and ignored this when he was home. He tried to be a good father for her but failed miserably. He was never around always working and one day he never returned, her mother had said he had died so now she was completely alone. Her parents had adopted another girl “Rosie”, and she thought she would have a friend in her. However, Rosie was mean and evil just like her mother.

Nora was so alone except for one person, her neighborBradley Somers,. They become friends at an early age, he saw what her mother did to her and he was angry he wanted to help her get out of that life. Nora and Bradley’s relationship was different. He was possessive of her and in a weird way I liked it, knowing she at least has someone who truly cared for her. However, he was also a bit creepy at times. Nora meets a new girl at the community college she was attending part time; she instantly liked her. Her name was Maren Digby, she had just moved to their town in Kansas and was going to the same school as Nora. However, Bradley did not approved of Maren or anyone. He did not trust people’s intentions and did not want Nora to suffer more than she already has.

”I was used to Bradley and his constantly fluctuating moods. Up and down. Like a roller coaster. He could make you smile and laugh, and in the next breath, make you cry and scream. He could be amazing. He could be the most terrifying thing in the world.” Nora

I loved how he would come to her bedroom at night especially on ”THURSDAYS” oh, what an awful day that was. I cried and I was mad and I just couldn’t understand what a monster of a mother would make her daughter go thru that. Basically her mother would take her to see the priest on Thursdays and do a purgatory for her sins because they believed she was an evil thing, a freaking “THING” because of the way she was born. She endured and tended to her damaged back each week after week and Bradley was always there for support. He hated to see that, he wanted to save her and I loved him for that. 

The story goes back and forth to the present and past. The present is where Nora is trapped in a room by herself in the dark with no recollection of who took her there or why. She has flashbacks to her life and tries so hard to find out what happened to her. This books is full of angst, suspense, is so twisted in a way because I am still trying to guess the mystery of who took her and why she is trapped alone in the dark. Her glasses were lost and she can’t see without them. The author really has this way of writing that gets so engaged in the story, as I’m reading I’m trying to find clues of what could have happened but it’s just so hard. I suspect it could of being the evil mother, or the evil sister, perhaps her new friend that we don’t know much about other that she loves to play the guitar and loved the song’s Nora would write. However, as I get to the ending I need book two because I need to know who she sees at the end. She is not alone on this misery and I am so intrigued I am going mad. I guess I will have to continue the series to find out this mystery.

This story was unique for me and it caught my attention from the very beginning. Brielle is a twenty six year old, hard worker, single woman; searching for help to try to attract her best friend that she has had a crushed on for five years. She wanted to win him over and needed help on doing so. After so many dates and failed relationships; she was giving up on love and needed guidance. Browsing the internet for dating sites she came across a very interesting ad “The Gentleman Mentor”. My first thought was “Where can I find one of those sites in my state?” haha. Ok the story. She gets nervous but she is intrigued about it and decides to give it a go. 

Brielle, was just looking for help on how to be confident in the bedroom department; so she meets with her mentor in hopes that he will be of help and worth her time and money. What she didn’t know was that Mr. Mentor was a hot piece of a man. He was tall, dark messy hair, with gorgeous mocha-colored eyes, he smelled delicious and all the sudden she was instantly attracted to this man who was supposed to help her reach her ultimate goal ”to attract the love of her life.” She instantly regretted her decision because it could turn out dangerous for her due to the instant chemistry they had; however she don’t want to give up that soon and decides to put any stupid feelings aside and accomplished what she paid for.

Cameron hale, a twenty-eight year old from Chicago, had a terrible love experience that left his heart shattered and broken. He worked in a law firm and was very well known. His hobby was to be a member of an underground BDSM club in Chicago and took mentoring as a side pleasure. He took it very seriously though, after his personal experience he never wanted to get attached to the woman he trained. The minute he meets Brielle his heart skipped a bit as well. He too was instantly attracted to this woman. He couldn’t understand why she wasn’t taken yet so it made it more interesting for him to teach her. He felts like he needed to do it more so for him not for her and he was going to enjoy their six classes together as much as he could.

What started as a teacher/student kind of thing escalated very quickly for the both of them. The very first lesson was intense he wanted her and she gave herself to him like she has never before. Never in her life has she had the experience he gave her in one lesson. She couldn’t stand the feelings and emotions this man was making her have. He too wanted to stay away but he couldn’t as much as he tried he just couldn’t. However, he ends up pushing her away though before the end of their last session he gives her the best night of her life and then goes and leaves her feeling like nothing. She thought that perhaps what she was feeling was mutual but he confused her by his actions and she felt like a fool. Later though she finds out he wasn’t actually running away because he didn’t feel anything for her but because of his past. Brielle decides to find out more about him and get into his world to understand him; she realized trying to win someone’s love was foolish. The best friend she believed she was in loved with was just an illusion; in fact she realized that there was nothing she really loved about him and wasn’t sure how on earth she didn’t see it. With Hale was different she knew he felt the same for her and she was going to make him understand that she is not like the person that broke his heart. Overall this was a sweat story it was not as intense as I was expecting it to be. I enjoyed all the characters and I loved the chemistry between Hale and Brielle. They ended up together and finding true love and a second change for the both of them.

Sinful Intent is the first book in the ALFA Private Investigations by Chelle Bliss. I feel that I'm in the minority on this one. This book just didn't do it for me. I didn't connect with the hero or the heroine. I found that I was skimming for the most part. 

Honestly, I think this book is a good book, it just wasn't for me. With that said, I feel it deserves a fair shot. Chelle Bliss is an amazing author with a list of amazing books out there. I feel everyone should at least give it a try.

Morgan DeLuca, an only child who has gotten away with many things at an early age; had just come home to Michigan from being on military duty services for eight years. Now that he was out, he needed a job and a new place to live and get his life back together. We meet his mother Mrs. DeLuca; she was an amazing character, I truly enjoyed her charisma. Morgan’s younger cousin was getting married and his mother took no for an answer; they were both flying to Florida to the wedding and to visit the Gallos family.

Morgan had such a great sense of humor as well as all his cousins; I loved them all from the beginning. I laughed so much reading this book I didn’t thought it was possible. After his cousin’s wedding; Morgan takes an offer from his cousin Thomas to stay in Florida and work for him as a private investigator for his family business “The Gallos ALFA Private Investigation”. His first case was to find out who was harassing “Race True” a twenty seven year old woman who worked as a senior contract manager at a firm in Downtown Florida.

Race True, was a very independent woman and after her last boyfriend cheated on her she decided to freeze her heart and not let anyone in. Her father’s death left her feeling sad and lonely and she poured herself in her work. Her life became work and that made her one of the top managers in the firm she worked at. Everyone wanted to be her, and now she was in danger of losing that position and maybe her life. Someone had something to ruin her reputation and they were bound to take her down. That someone was blackmailing her and she needed to find out who before it was too late. She hired The ALFA investigators to find out who this creep was.

Morgan and Race’s first meeting was very interesting; they were both instantly attracted to each other but cocky and stubborn to show their true colors. Their relationship fascinated me from the beginning. Many things happened on this book, there was some suspense trying to find out the responsible blackmailer. Morgan and Race relationship heated up quickly and I couldn’t helped but loved it. It was super HOT.

There were so many funny things that had me laughing so much that I was literally crying it was so funny. These are some examples why it was so funny and I truly couldn’t control my laughter:

“My dick twitched-honest to God, moved inside my pants from her filthy mouth.” Morgan

“I read somewhere that a pussy snaps back to virginal tightness after being empty for so long. I wouldn’t be shocked if mine was sealed closed with cobwebs inside.” Race

I got to meet some of the Gallos on this book and boy do I want to know them all?! Yes I do. One thing to always remember about the boys on this book is to always knock on the door. This is why. (view spoiler).

This book was truly so fun to read; it had everything I look for in a book. A little of suspense, funny characters, lots of heated scenes, a strong family that would do anything for each other; a healing couple that find themselves and helped each other to be strong. This was my first book by this author; I don’t know why because her books had been recommended to me so many times I stopped counting. I am so happy I read this and it will not be my last. After reading this book I am really looking forward to reading all of the Gallos Brothers. I enjoyed this book from beginning to end.
