KIM'S REVIEW~PRICE OF A KISS by Linda Kage

I love a witty/strong heroine and a witty/strong is what you get with Reese Alison Randall.  LOVED HER!!! I was hooked right from the start.

Price of a Kiss starts off with us meeting the mighty handsome Mason Lowe...and mighty handsome he is indeed ;)  I loved him from the get go.  Unfortunately, he was put in an unthinkable situation by their nasty landlady who was threatening eviction if he didn't take her up on her proposition of him becoming her "play toy".  Mason was so disgusted by her ultimatum that he flat out told her NO!!  But of course, the nasty hag(who was twice his age), would not let up and with his sister having cerebral palsy and his mom working two jobs to make ends meet, he was in a "pickle" and  reluctantly agreed to her ultimatum.
Mason was selfless and didn't cave... especially with the rumors going around about him.  He did what he had to do even though he hated every minute of it and I loved him even more for that.

Reese Randall moved to Florida to attend college and to live with her best friend/cousin, Ava.  She had to change her name and move across country to get away from her stalker ex-boyfriend who had tried to kill her.  Reese was just trying to move on with her life and getting involved in a new relationship was not in the cards for her...or so she thought!!!

"From fifty yards, he'd taken my breath away. From ten feet, I'd been ready to have his babies."

While conversing with her cousin, Ava, Reese was caught off guard by the most gorgeous guy she had ever laid eyes on...Mason Lowe literally took her breath away.  She could not stop staring and was in awe of him. But what she learned and soon found out was that Mason was off limits to her...well...not without a price. Mason was a gigolo...a freaking gigolo. Yikes!!

"Girl, don’t even think about it. You couldn’t afford him if you emptied all the money in your piggy bank."

"What? Is he, like, for sale or something?"

Reese applies for a babysitting job for a special needs child and gets the job.  The little girls brother just happens to be none other than the "hottie" Mason Lowe.  Reese gets a front row seat seeing first hand what kind of life Mason leads.  This makes her fall hard for Mason.  She knows that she can't have a relationship with him because of his occupation.  This doesn't stop her though from becoming his friend.

Reese sees Mason as a person and she can see him deep down to his soul.  She falls really fast and hard for him but she accepts that friendship is as far as their relationship can go.  It breaks her heart knowing what he has to endure to help his family.

"Every woman treats me that way, Reece. I'm not a person to them. I'm just…a good time or something vile to be avoided at all costs. And then you came along and you…you hugged me. You are the first person who sees me, Mason, not sex for sale."

The sacrifices he makes melts my heart.  He has given up so much for his mom and sister.  I just want to hold him and tell him how special he was...and special does not even cover what he truly is.  He is exceptional.  There is not a great enough word to describe him in my eyes.  I admire him for what he has sacrificed...friendships, relationships and not being able to let someone love him and not allowing himself to be able to love someone.  Such a shame...I just wanted to smack that old "Mrs. Robinson-er, Garrison." Skank is a word that I'm sure was invented just for her!!!

"I couldn’t wait to meet his cherry-popping, cougar pimp landlady again. Said no one ever."

"Well played, skanky pimp landlady, well played."

Mason and Reese have a very special friendship that will draw you right in.  I loved watching their friendship develop and more importantly, I enjoyed watching them fall in love.  It took them a while for them to admit it and to take a hold of it and run with it.  It was well worth the wait.
The anticipation was ahhh...and well worth it.

Oh, and before Mason and Reese gave in to their feelings, Mason was no longer a gigolo. ;)

“You’re the warm sun that shines when everything else is dark,” he went on, lifting his hands to rest them against the wall on either side of my face. “A smile and a hug in a roomful of disapproval. You’re…” Wincing, he pressed his forehead against mine. “You’re everything.”

Read this book...it's an exceptional read.  I absolutely loved it.  You will fall in love with both Mason and Reese...and I can't forget Mason's sweet sweet sister, Sarah. She will melt your heart and you will fall in love with her...just like everyone did who came in contact with her.  This book really was a great read!!!
